Hyundai Unveils Electric Ioniq 5 N with Impressive Performance Features
Hyundai has made a grand debut of its latest electric vehicle, the Ioniq 5 N, at the prestigious Goodwood Festival of Speed. This highly anticipated model showcases Hyundai’s commitment to electric mobility while delivering exceptional performance capabilities.
The Ioniq 5 N is the first production vehicle under Hyundai’s N-brand to prioritize performance, combining power and speed for an exhilarating driving experience. With an impressive acceleration time of just 3.4 seconds from zero to 62MPH and a top speed of 161MPH, this electric powerhouse is set to captivate automotive enthusiasts.
Hyundai has gone the extra mile in revamping the entire Ioniq 5 for the N variant, ensuring a dynamic and thrilling ride. The vehicle offers both front- and dual-motor options, with the latter delivering a remarkable 641 horsepower in boost mode. Under normal operation, drivers can expect around 600 horsepower and 545 pound-feet of torque, although final figures are yet to be confirmed.
In addition to the performance enhancements, the Ioniq 5 N benefits from a revised battery pack with improved chemistry, allowing for increased usable energy from 77.4 kWh to an impressive 84.0 kWh. Hyundai has also implemented an upgraded thermal management system for the battery, optimizing performance by enhancing cooling capabilities.
The electric vehicle features a new regenerative braking system, equipped with larger discs for efficient and responsive braking. Its lower and wider stance, specifically designed for the N variant, accommodates wider tires on 21-inch wheels, while a prominent diffuser improves downforce and adds 80mm to the vehicle’s length.
While pricing details for the Ioniq 5 N are yet to be announced, Hyundai plans to make the model available for purchase in early 2024. The company will also reveal the electric vehicle’s range in the coming months, further solidifying its position as a compelling choice in the electric performance car segment.
