Indian shooter Prithviraj Tondaiman showcased his skills and secured the bronze medal in the men’s trap event at the ISSF Shotgun World Cup Lonato 2023, which took place in Italy. This remarkable achievement marked India’s sole medal at the prestigious Lonato shooting meet. It was Tondaiman’s second individual ISSF World Cup medal, adding to his bronze win in Doha earlier in March.

In the final round, Tondaiman displayed exceptional shooting prowess, finishing third with a total of 34 points. The gold medal was claimed by Nathan Hales from Britain, who scored 49 points, while Qi Ying from the Republic of China earned the silver medal with 48 points.

Although the Indian participants in the women’s trap event were unable to progress beyond the qualification round, Tondaiman’s outstanding performance brought pride to the Indian shooting contingent. India secured the ninth position in the overall medals tally at Lonato. The United States topped the chart with two gold medals and one silver.

The ISSF Shotgun World Cup in Italy served as a crucial qualifying event for the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympics.
